From humble beginnings in Western Canada to international presence, PCL is a leader in sustainable and innovative construction. 4té worked with PCL’s Special Projects team to fit up their new Ottawa office. The project is a reflection of vision and collaboration, bringing together a team of professionals with a focus on the project’s success.

This new office space was a new beginning and an opportunity for PCL to showcase a modern facility that exemplifies their history, leadership and innovation. The new office spans 2.5 floors and offers a variety of spaces to support the various services and workflows of the company. 4té’s design perspective was valuable in creating a strong workplace community built around inclusivity, culture and excellence.

Distinguishing Features:  Angles and soft curves are combined in the design elements and architectural features, producing contrast and a sense of dynamic movement that captivates the eye. Emphasis was placed on fundamental construction materials such as concrete, steel and wood.

The top floor reception area leads to the executive boardrooms, which include switch glass for controlled privacy. A custom 33’ boardroom table was designed with a steel base fabricated to simulate a metal bridge. The executive conference floor is linked to the floor below with an interconnecting staircase, providing access to the central working café and adjacent work areas.

The Working Café is a lively gathering space that features a variety of seating options, from built-in booths to a coffee bar and a cozy library lounge adorned with indigenous art and collectibles. Open ceilings with exposed ductwork and striking geometric acoustic baffles add character, fostering a warm and welcoming environment for employees and guests alike. Additional features, including accessible gender-neutral washrooms and a dedicated training facility, create a workplace solution that is both unique and thoughtfully tailored.
